In the tiny town of Little Kilton, a five year old ‘solved’ murder case doesn’t quite add up right. That is until Pippa Fitz-Amobi, straight A student, decides to dig up the facts of the case for her senior capstone project.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is a thrilling, incredibly fast paced story, ridden with plot twists and an engrossing setting. The characters, with their multi-layered personalities and interesting backstories and motives will definitely pique the reader’s interest.

Apart from being a riveting, page-turning mystery, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder also tackles the ugly, unseen sides of social issues like racism when it comes to conviction in a crime.

Popular girl Andie Bell disappeared for days. Two days later, Salil ‘Sal’ Singh, her boyfriend at the time, was found dead in the woods, seemingly having confessed to the murder. Her body was never found. Despite the evidence on his side, everyone is quick to blame the Indian boy, exaggerating his nature to match the description of a murderer, even after his death.

“An innocent life was taken and everyone in this town turned it ugly in their mouths, turned him into a villain. But if a villain can be made, then they can be unmade.”

Pippa, however, is determined that Sal didn’t do it. The book follows her journey through text and transcript as she interviews witnesses, uncovers uncomfortable, well-hidden secrets of the past, and finally, uncovers the true killer—were they in the town the whole time?
